They Call Me Angel by Alexia Muelle-Rushbrook completely surprised me — and in the best way. This isn’t my usual genre, but it was our book club pick, and I’m so glad it was. What I expected to be a simple ghost story turned out to be something much deeper — emotional, human, and beautifully written. Angel, the main character, is caught between worlds, able to see the living but unable to reach them. Watching her navigate that space and rediscover her purpose was both heartbreaking and healing. Muelle-Rushbrook’s writing is lyrical and full of quiet emotion, capturing small, tender moments that stay with you long after reading. And the audiobook narration by Amelia Hugh absolutely nailed it — her performance brought the characters and atmosphere to life in such a vivid, heartfelt way that I found myself fully immersed. It’s a slow-burn story about grief, love, and letting go — and it left me genuinely moved.
