Ugh, I’m not sure what the fuss is about. While the concept of telling a story through correspondence is an interesting one, I found the main character Sybil incredibly narcissistic and not at all self aware. I literally couldn’t wait for the book to be over so I didn’t have to hear her letters anymore. I know so many people loved this book but I truly think it’s just so so. I listened to it on a long car journey so I was a captive audience. Maybe the point was that she was a completely narcissistic woman who lived, had some kids, one of whom dies young, and then she dies. The end. What a bore.
