Hummm this series has always been grim-dark, but it was fun too! And that’s the way I like ’em action heavy and fun. Also part 1 was so disjointed which made it hard to follow. But what I want to know is why has book just become grim-dark! I ask again. Why? Where did the fun go? Did Matt Dinniman only have a few gags and now he’s completely run out? So now like the announcer says Kill, Kill, Kill… is the series just turning into splatter fiction now? Definitely not my cup of tea! Oh well I’ve only got about a quarter of the book left, so I’ll gird my loins to see if Matt, Carl, and Donut can pull this book outta the trash, but with part 4 called “The Peeling of Larracos” which sounds horrifically bad, and with the Faction War’s rules changing, I’m not gonna hold my breath. Well, well, well that wasn’t half bad. They really did pull it off. For all my complaining Matt Dinniman really can write a mesmerizing tale. It’s why people keep coming back for more punishment. But when only the last fourth is worth reading, which is not what I’m looking for when I’m reading a novel. Surprisingly only now in bk7 I’ve realized that a few of the crawlers used cards to summon beasts. Deck users and deck-building are one of my favorite sub-genres! But really it’s so seldom used/mentioned it only receives a minor footnote.

Here’s a quote for yah:

“Katia told me not to tell you because she says you’ll Carl it up.”
