As a person who tends to read Romantasy, YA and Thrillers this book was outside of my comfort zone to say the least. I picked it up for book club and have no regrets.

The story was somewhat difficult to adjust to in the beginning since there was a lot going on and a RPG read style to get acclimated to. Once you get past that and wrap your mind around the way the world works, it is very entertaining. The narration that Jeff Hays does is truly impressive and allows the reader to become fully immersed in the story.

There is a lot of language and some vulgarity so if you are not comfortable with those things this wont be the book for you.

If you’re not phased by those things, then you might as well go ahead and get book 2 while you’re at it 🙂
