If you are looking for L’Amour or Tolkien, this would not be your first choice. The concept of mixing the two genres negated each while creating a new or sub genre. I would have appreciated an YA alert as the material, while engaging seemed to be aimed at a younger audience than yours truly. The narration by Andrew Tell was first rate. Multiple characters were cleanly delineated and expertly crafted.
I do look forward to more by Trevor H. Cooley as this this work has room to grow.
