I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book at the beginning. It started off slow and steady and rather plain. Nonetheless, the main character kept me engaged and I admittedly wanted to see where I was being led. I fell deep into this story before I even knew it. I couldn’t wait to hear what happened next. Listening on audio was such a treat because the characters came alive in ways I couldn’t imagine. The twists and turns, highs and lows of life are both stark and beautiful. All of the lives involved are not just relatable but make you feel like you are a part of these people’s world in an incredible way. How is that possible with such a different cross section of society? This book completely took me by surprise and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to start again only this time as a hardback book. Read or listen, it’ll stay with you.
