I recently finished the ‘History of Woman Suffrage’ in the USA. It was a 45-hour long audiobook. Originally I didn’t imagine I would make it through to the end, but it was so good I couldn’t stop listening.
It is a documentary of the first ~20 years of the woman suffrage movement in the USA, written by the women themselves who led the movement at the time.
We have always said “we stand on the shoulders of the women who have come before us, and it is our job to carry their torches for future generations”. This book helped me realize just how big their shoulders were and the challenges we face pale in comparison to what they faced.
It has inspired me to keep going and not be deterred by challenges, frustration or disappointment.
Together we must carry on in honor of the women who came before us, in service of the next generations of women to come.
