The novel is outstanding and unique. When I asked ChatGPT to contrast “The Correspondent” with other epistolary works it noted: (1) This novel focuses on a single consciousness, (2) It is reflective rather than suspense-driven, (3) It plays with absence, (4) It feels contemporary in emotional structure. In short: The Correspondent uses letters to reveal character and interiority.

It’s more about the emotional truth of one person’s life than about unfolding events.

Now for my take – this is a moving novel whose story unfolds like petals of a flower slowly opening to the sun. I’m no writer, but I adore good literature. This is a doubtless example of good literature. The cast of voice actors is phenomenal. I was enthralled by the voices as they captured the essence of each character – indeed, I believe the Audible performance added a 4th dimension to my experience of listening to this novel.

In closing, I strongly recommend the book and this rendition of the book.
