I really disliked the narrator, so my opinion may be a bit tainted.
This story follows two women, one in Chicago and the other in New Orleans, who meet and bond after they each lose their husbands.
The synopsis made it sound like an interesting story, but I disliked the incredulous twists that make it less of a historical fiction piece and more of an eye-rolling piece that had me guessing the upcoming parts rather than eagerly reading to find out what would happen next. It was an easily predictable period piece that touches on strong women, Mardi Gras, mobsters, infidelity, and there is an orphanage thrown in as well.
