I don’t even read books. Ever. But Dungeon Crawler Carl changed that.
I started on Kindle, got hooked, switched to Audible—and now I’m tearing through the series. Jeff Hays’ narration? Perfect. He doesn’t just voice the characters, he becomes them. Donut the cat is iconic, hilarious, and totally unforgettable thanks to Hays. And Carl? I wasn’t sure about him at first, but he’s always got a plan, even when he doesn’t. He grows on you fast, and now I’m all in.
The action is brutal, descriptive, and intense. The humor hits hard. And the worldbuilding? Sneaky good. You don’t realize at first how deep it goes, but by the second book, you start to see the grand design—and it’s brilliant.
One moment you’re laughing out loud, the next you’re white-knuckled, then suddenly you’re emotionally invested in a talking cat and a guy in his boxers fighting for humanity.
