I know Rick partlow is a good author, but this one really isn’t hitting for me. It’s premise is interesting enough and the action is fine, but the character building is real weak, with characters acting very out of character based on what we know of them, religious zealous cursing out their gods, special forces soldiers randomly betraying their squad they’ve been with for years, etc. We also don’t know anything about the world at all, I just found out at the end of book 2 that Europe basically was all consolidated into France, which would have been great information to have earlier since I was wondering why the French (which the author seems to dislike for some reason) are the only ones reacting to anything. Theres long rambling exposition being randomly placed in the middle of conversations. Also the romance is real bad, guy sees hot girl, they talk once, and then they’re in love and will throw away everything for the other person. The first time had me raise my eyebrow, the second had me rolling my eyes.
Not sure what happened here, its not bad enough to drop with only 1 book left but I know he can do better
