Dungeon Crawler Carl is a brilliantly absurd LitRPG where Carl, an ordinary guy, and his cat, Princess Donut (who firmly believes she’s the true protagonist), are thrust into a deadly, video game-like dungeon after Earth is destroyed by aliens. While Carl fights to survive monsters and traps, Donut is concerned with becoming the universe’s next superstar. It is all crazy, but the author Matt Dinniman manages to pull it off absurdly well.
The truly incredible talents of the narrator Jeff Hays really add to this already amazing book. I have watched some of his videos on YouTube when he records his sessions and I still can’t figure out how he is able to do so many voices so flawlessly.
I don’t write many reviews but this is a book I would highly recommend.
