The story was weakened by everything just falling into place, as predicted by main character. The obvious rightwing point of view with overtones of libertarianism is both sad
And misguided. The plot point where Grant (the main character) is exited by the coming disaster but not understanding why he’s happy about it is so predictable. The reason is because he’s made a huge investment in the possible disaster happening. If nothing happens it’ll be for nothing, which is a very typical pitfall for prepper’s . Overall the anti liberal government ranting doesn’t help and is a good way to turn off many readers.
