The author is narrates all of these parables and analogies from a perspective that is apparently explicitly aware of the outcome of the race for superinteligence, like the narrator in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, in a dry and entertaining and digestible way. However in the way of actual reasoning as to how the author is aware of the outcome, parables and analogies are the only thing offered. The author is somehow holding two conflicting ideas that are presented again and again explicitly: We can’t possibly have any real idea what a superinteligence will want, BUT we are certain beyond the shadow of a doubt that it will result in humanity’s extinction. If you’re looking for more rigorous proof of this beyond some fun stories, you will be disappointed.
