Overall pretty great, and very enjoyable adaptation of a story I’ve already come to love – however, I did have a few small issues:

The main reader does a great job, but he definitely does not “sound like ‘Carl’” to me… at the very least, not believably a 28 year old! Maybe a small complaint, but at least a slight hurdle for immersion.

Only other complaint is the sort of inexplicable and inconsistent application of accents – Samantha seems to alternate between a bad Eastern European and painfully stereotypical (think Cartman’s Jennifer Lopez) Hispanic “accent”. Miriam Dom also for some reason has some sort of indeterminate faintly-racist-seeming accent despite having no real reason for it that I can tell.

Anyway, those are my little complaints but on balance this is a very enjoyable rendition of a truly excellent book.

Conclusion: worth it!
