This is a rather simple epistolary novel (told only through letters written by the protagonist). The characterization is weak, the story is pedestrian and predictable, there is no action. Heartfelt? Sweet? Original? Beautiful? For me it was rather solidly OK but a bit meh.
The narration was quite good.
