This is only my 3rd or 4th attempt at getting into a prepper style book, so I’m no expert in any sense.

Good Fences is Not the typical SHTF (emp, zombies etc) “Need to get home through this mess to my family, and I’m sooooo far away!” style of story.

The good guy prepper is harassed by the mean neighbors (with one specific nemesis) who don’t like the smells from his farm , the noises from his farm, etc etc.
….weeks later… EMP!!
What’s a bunch of stupid yuppies to do?
What will the kindly, big gun wielding prepper do?

And that’s when the story started picking up.

There was a small amount of religion thrown in here and there, but nothing preachy.
Some decent attempts at humour.
The interaction between the prepper friends was nice and fun and normal.

My only true dislike of this audio book is the narrator. He was very good, don’t get me wrong – but not for this book. His voice made me imagine all of the characters were….well, old. I think the main character was supposed to be in his early 30’s – couldn’t wrap my brain around this young character with an 80 year olds voice.

But all in all, worth the listen. For what it’s worth, I would recommend it 🙂
