We are back with the Vancouver Tridents and we get southern gentleman, Rhett Darlington. When his best friend “Yammy” can’t have pets in his apartment building, His sister who’s just relocated to the area must find another place to stay. So she moves in with his best friend. No problem – yea it’s a problem.
Rhett is also her childhood crush and he’s only gotten better….
First I loved the dynamic of new puppy parents and how they both took this so seriously.
This book was filled with little swoony moments. When Rhett finds out Evie’s secret he wastes no time in volunteering to help her out. This leads to a pretty spicy secret relationship.
I absolutely loved the dynamic that Evie wanted to be a Special Ed teacher, and that Rhett was dyslexic. There are not enough good things you can say about someone who wants to be a Special Ed teacher.
The banter was top tier and Rhett’s southern boy charm came through in all his lines.
I have to say I think my favorite part was how well the brother took the revelation of the relationship. I’ve gotten a bit weary of the overbearing brother dictating to the sister what she can do, and there was NONE of that. And I LOVED it!
This was my first listen to both Lena Lee & Alexander Neal and I enjoyed their narration.
