- Would you try another book from Daniel Arenson and/or Jeffrey Kafer?
- No.
- Has Earth Alone turned you off from other books in this genre?
- No.
- You didn’t love this book… but did it have any redeeming qualities?
- The author has a gift for descriptive language.
- Any additional comments?
- The author needs to break away from the safety of overused sci-fi tropes such as the war-torn post invasion wasteland, the damaged orphan protagonist. This was like Starship Troopers fanfic that took itself a bit too seriously. One further thought: I truly appreciate well placed descriptive language. A good adjective, use of simile, metaphor, or symbolism, can really make a good story great, but you can have too much of a good thing; in the case of Earth Alone it was way, way too much of a good thing. Regrettably, I cannot give a review of the narrator, as the story was painful to listen to and I could not find much to redeem it on the whole and it would not do to judge the narrator for that.
