Yes another absolutely beautiful story from JEA. Her writing is so beautiful and I love her characters and settings.
Jaymes is a travel nurse and moves into a house with 3 other people, including the very closed off and rude Calvin Fitzgerald (Fitz). The other roommates tell her to give him a wide berth and to not takes anything he says or does personally. Of course they are drawn to each other and their banter is some of the best I’ve ever read. The deeper parts of the story come after the 50% mark which felt a little delayed and rushed for me, especially for a deep as they went 🫣 I don’t like when a character is SO hurt that they feel unworthy of love or happiness. I also felt the twist was far fetched. If that one fact hadn’t been true, they would have had such an easier time since he was all in 6-7 months before the end of the story. I didn’t think that one thing was necessary.
Overall I loved all the MCs and the development of their relationship except that he never wanted a future with her
Vibes: roommates, stressful jobs, getting to know you, travel, deep buried trauma, your my person, homeschooling (both MCs were homeschooled due to trauma but still)
Absolutely wonderful job by the voice actors as well. They played all characters flawlessly. This was such a wonderful experience on audio
