Anna, a successful photographer living in Manhattan, rents a place in rural New York State for the month of August. The family she rents from has just moved there from the City, back to mother and wife Georgia’s family home. The house has mostly comfortable memories for Georgia, but it’s also where her mother and her beloved nanny, Eliza, died. Lots of psychological issues and therapy for all in the family: Georgia and Tom’s marriage is in trouble, their daughter, Millie, has terrible nightmares in the house. Anna also senses a ghostly presence when she goes to certain spots in the house. All very complicated, with an interesting weaving of past and present. Good suspense, and it’s not always clear who is good and who is villain.
