Takes a bit to get into

Both the narration and the writing were a little sophomoric at the beginning. It really did take about half the book for me to get into both the story and the narrators idiosyncrasies. I am still a little annoyed at the “extras” or sound effects they added to the narration. They were wholly unnecessary and actually distracted me from the book and took me out of the story for a bit.

OK, with that said. The story picks up and is very entertaining. I am hoping that it carries through to the next book this way without having to go back and start off slow.
