Christian apologia wrapped in a vaguely War of the Worlds existential threat. The writing is well done, dialogue flows naturally at times and is overall entertaining between our MC and the big government baddie. The boot licking for some fascism is in evidence however in how our protagonist lusts after a clear and present danger police force black shirt, so props for him being able to overlook the thunderbolts on lapels he’s been terrified of up until now because one smiles at him once.
The narration by Jeff Hays is top notch as always, including all the sound booth folks. The Latin is fun, the nerding out on catholic imagery and architecture was good times but the conclusion of the story reads like a DARE morality play. Muslims ultimately get the boot in the story but not seemingly with any direct malice, more like catching strays. Had to be someone and not too many religions opposite Christianity which have nukes in their belt so yeah…
Feels like something the DailyWire would option, so if that’s your cup of tea this’ll do ya nicely. If you were hoping for something akin to an Andy Weir book I’d recommend giving this title a pass.
