This is a beautiful book. It is not heavy with plot or action, but deeply thoughtful and has the tendency to grip you by the heart. The characters are rich and complicated. Their stories are relatable, and so very real in their telling. But what compelled me to write this review is that the audiobook version of this book is perhaps the best narration I’ve ever heard. The actor who reads Sybil, the protagonist, should win whatever awards are available for such a performance. Rarely do I listen to a book and think how much better it was that I didn’t read it myself. But indubitably this book was richer for having heard it instead of reading it.
