It also makes the entire story feel weak, maudlin, and overly unrealistic. It’s basically a lifetime movie in book form. The voice artists do a good job but not phenomenal. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. Without giving any spoilers- it’s dumb. It’s predictable. There’s no set up, there’s no payoff. Xander seems to think that a “twist” is just something stupid happening.
