This novel peaks in entertainment value and the discussion of purpose. Raising sociological questions like an Asamov novel, and giving fight scenes and power clashes like a manga! As Ryun and Zachariah’s paths (maybe even their fates) become intertwined for the fate of the infinite realm, we are faced again defining what it means to be a monster? What does it mean to be powerful? How does good or evil? As we wrestle with these larger questions, new powers break the world and force it do incredible yet horrible things. I hate the Yeti but his path is also that of an outcast like many of the favorite characters who used to support the main folks. Another shining point in this series. The side characters have depth that really round out the world and boldly add to the development of the characters. I wanted a different ending but at least the one we got leveraged the dealmakers ambiguous nature without just whipping it away. One of the best cultivation novels series I’ve read. Complex conflicts between characters that feel relatable. The crucibles of power and the philosophies that guide them make an explosion of adventure garnished by loss as well as triumph. As a reader I wanted to understand the characters just as mush as they wanted to understand themselves. I’m invested in how things will play out. Were the sacrifices worth it? Do ryuan give more than he bargain for only to get a cheap trick of what he really wanted? Atleast he has a new relationship with Irdania and Selia. 5/5 all the way through!
