I thought the author went overboard in his/her obvious attempt to make the lead character Maddy more than what she could’ve been or should’ve been, this made the story seem very unbelievable and at times unbearable. One example is how Maddies “husband” was the town’s Sheriff before he met her, but as the story progressed he seemed to be very incompetent and useless, whereas the author clearly put her in charge of situations as a 19 yr old that she never would’ve been capable of even understanding and her older more experienced “husband “ naturally should’ve handled. Therefore the overall story suffered in my opinion
