Let me start with the character Henry. they created an individual who has trauma based on being a medic during wartime. Who was also an EMT and saw even more crap. then they added the fact that he was seriously betrayed by his ex-wife. Potentially an excellent character. an individual that has so much trauma first, would have a very hard time trusting people. his best friend Jason would be the only person he trusts but not implicitly. dating someone requires Trust this individual shouldn’t trust anyone!! The thought of getting married would immediately Spike anxiety and a massive amount of emotional walls going up and pushing everyone away. Then the very individuals that should care about him trick him into immediately getting married. An individual with as much trauma as he has would have immediately kicked her ass to the curb!!! Also they’ve known each other for like a month and the authors forcing some kind of marriage, WHY? WTF, great way to break a storyline.

Then we have the diatribe on homosexuality and the state of Earth, compared to the rest of the Galaxy, this entire book turns into a political campaign that breaks everyone’s personality destroys the World building that was created and overall pisses on everything that was built up to this point.
I acquired the book for the explicit reason of a good story, not political bullshit!!
I have read many books that have elements of LGBT that are tastefully woven into the book. I have friends and family that are various LGBT+ that I love being around. I don’t care what people do in their personal life and have no interest in telling them what to do. but at the same time you don’t get to try and force me to see your point of view. if this author would have just seamlessly integrated the people into the story and had them pick up normal relationships for whatever their preference is, it would have been a tremendously better way to get their point across. I don’t give a crap about your preferences, live your life do your thing, and let everyone else do it too!!!

This author is all over the place one moment they’re pushing marriage, as if it’s mandatory for any type of relationship, as if they’re in a conservative religion and the next they are going off on a political tangent about the state of the LGBT community and being tolerant.

I’m going to have to really read the reviews on the next books I don’t know if I’m going to continue this series. the storyline is a good storyline if the author would stop getting in the way.
