Words cannot describe how scared I was of this book on release. All the books built this up as a war for the ages. And with the track record of the previous books I was scared of who might die next. I’m still sad about what happened but how it played out wasn’t nearly as bad as I imagined it in my head. I must complement this story because a 10/10 simplely isn’t high enough. if you looked on the market you couldn’t find a book that scratches the same itch this book does. This is truly a one of a kind story and with each book each layer of lore piled on top of everything it makes me anticipate the next book more. but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. It’s almost obvious either Carl isn’t going to make it or he will but the steps to reach that point and the bodies he has to walk over will push him over the edge and he’ll be swept away by the “River” which is interesting plot point because multiple people have mentioned it in off handed remarks which I also love about this because even a seemingly innocuous comment can be a lore landmine waiting to happen
Tldr: Set a weekend aside and just listen to a genuinely cinematic audio experience and a story that’ll have you begging for the next book
