This was a great series. I already knew the primary characters from the Prequel box set. That was my intro to Mark Goodwin actually. I’m a little sad that it’s over but all good things must come to an end I suppose. Here on earth at least. Also I’ve read my share of non-christian written thrillers, dystopian society, post apocalyptic books and this christian thriller without the cursing, sex and everything else the other books contain had me wanting to listen just as much if not more than they did. These are also compelling me to read my Bible. Something I know I should be doing already but starting a habit and sticking to it is where I struggle. I appreciate the scripture references throughout the series and they definitely get you thinking and feeling. I understand that the books are for entertainment purposes but a lot of it makes sense. Reality is starting to look more and more like these books I’m listening to. I am a Baptist raised in a Southern Baptist family many of whom are pastors/ministers in churches. I was taught growing up that the rapture would happen before times got desperate (for lack of a better word). As an adult I’ve come to believe that a lot of American christians have this same belief and that when thinking of end times they often picture things getting bad around the globe, not necessarily here at home. I feel like this is a bit arrogant. There are so many horrifically violent things that have happened around the globe that the US has never suffered through. I just feel like the “end times” will be suffering like we’ve never experienced before. That is not just going to happen overnight. Which means between now and then we’ve got a lot to go through that other countries have experienced. We are not immune and if others have lived through genocides, civil wars, famine, collapses of their governments & financial systems then it’s clearly not reserved for the “end times.” Anyway, I loved both box sets this one and The Beginning of Sorrows that came first. Like I said, they make you think for sure. Looking forward to starting a new book, series etc.
