The preview was great. That intro is the best part of the book. I love every component that went into this story, and the premise sounded amazing. This should be an amazing book, but it is a steaming hot pile of garbage. Every character is a horrible person, creature, or cat. Apparently every nice character on planet earth was killed off in the first chapter, and there isn’t a thread of decency in any other race in the galaxy. Occasionally characters have moments where they seem to be thinking about doing the right thing, and that makes every other moment starkly delineated. There were a few moments when it almost felt like Carl and Donut would have an actual loving normal human-cat relationship, but like everything else in this book, those moments were ruined halfway through them. Every joke is taken too far. Every death is disgusting and graphic. The acting is over the top. Many of the voices are grating and annoying. The announcer voice made me want to bang my head against the wall and is SO INCREDIBLY LOUD. I finished the book because I used a credit on it, so I can say it ends with no closure and not even on a decent cliffhanger to make me have any desire to want to continue watching the dumpster fire.
