[SPOILER ALERT]
This longwinded book was a thought-provoking and interesting read(listen). It started out very strong with some interesting scenarios and ideas/proposals, but in the end I found it too euphoric. Everything seemed to fall in line to the progressive gameplan too easily. There didn’t seem to be enough of a struggle with the forces opposing change, which we know in real life would be formidable if not nearly insurmountable. There should have been some curveballs like a populist backlash or a geo-engineering project gone wrong. The condonement of vigilantism was interesting. I guess it all makes for a nice fantasy but some realism would have made the story more powerful.
The storyline and character development was strong, and I can see this being adapted into a screenplay someday. The narration was generally good with a diversity of accents to reflect the international context of the story, but it really could have used the inclusion of an authentic Asian narrator instead of a guy obviously faking it. I also found the Middle-Eastern accent to sound too bitter.
