Was recommended by a friend. Wanted to give a chance because I like humorous weird stories but just did not like this at all.
First thing that stood out is that the story made little sense. Somehow a mimic becomes “special” because it picked up a sword, or that the writer constantly points out how dumb the mimic is, only to constantly have it outsmart it’s opponents…
The next thing that stood out is the needless, over the top, creepy, perversion that the writer felt the need to wedge in pointlessly. Such as one of the mimic’s first victims is a girl that gets off on “sleeping” with monsters. Why? That lent nothing to the story and was just creepy. Oh, and that was by no means the last of the perversion.
By the end the I just wanted it to be done. There was way too many cliches and convenient plot armor moments. So much so that the author seemed to feel the need to point it out by bringing up how the mimic seemed to have a lot of instances of dumb luck.
I’m sure there are people that liked this story but I’ll never be buying another from this author.
