I wanted to like this series. I listened to the first Ive all the way through. I enjoyed the relationship with the father and the son. I was curious how they would survive and who they would meet. I wanted to know more.
Second book was less interesting. Lots about guns and tactics. No plot or character development by chapter 19. Female character is suitable grateful for male protection. Make characters “do what they have to do” to survive and feel suitably protective of female. People they meet are either stereotype thugs or rednecks.
I kept going though still hoping for some payoff.
But the political positions expressed started coming in hard and fast – how the country has lost its moral compass.
I wanted to like this series. I was hoping it would be similar to Hatchet, which I really enjoyed.
But I’m not finishing this one. It’s not what I’m looking for.
