This book kept me looking forward to reading time—which is exactly what a good story should do. But honestly, that was mostly because I spent the first half trying to figure out what it was actually about. I mean that in a good way, though. It wasn’t boring; there were several intriguing threads running through the story—they just didn’t seem to connect at first.
By the end, I could see how they were related, but the pieces never quite locked together the way you’d expect in fiction. That slight disjointedness held it back from being great, but it was still an engaging and worthwhile read. I’d recommend it. 3.5 stars rounded up,
