the story line is all over the place with very little set up for the characters. theres not 1 clear protagonist. there are so many characters that you don’t get any depth or insight to how they tick. the main characters ( because there are many) are apparently super humans able to regenerate tissue, fight infection like anti biotics are mainlined, and dodge thousands of bullets from trained soldiers. I wanted to like it but I couldn’t get into it. I couldn’t continue to listen to such an absolutely unrealistic chain of events. at one point two elderly people two young women and an injured and immobile young man mangae to fend off 100 Chinese soldiers in an armored column with heavy weapons and so on. that math doesn’t add up…. and the whole book is that way. or at least as much as I read.
