For something this “dark,” there should be trigger warnings given audibly at the beginning of the audio book. It’s incredibly messed up to not have that.
Audible suggested this book to me and I clicked on it without reading the reviews first. I deeply regret doing that!! Never again!
It’s one thing to be into dark romance, BDSM, etc, but a complete different thing to write about a straight up assault. Especially when he’s assaulting someone who saved his own sister from assault. And I’m supposed to believe they are enemies to lovers? R*pists can’t truly love, and survivors don’t love their r*pists. They get Stockholm syndrome sometimes at best. So this isn’t even close to realistic.
I’m a survivor myself, and I shouldn’t have had to stumble upon this without warning. So shame on audible, and all others involved. I typically don’t kink shame, but I am shaming here. This is really sick. Also, they didn’t give the female characters any true agency or depth. That’s just lazy writing truly. Despite being a fan of dark romance typically, I’m repulsed, disappointed, and felt this was a waste of time.
