- This book would make an adorable Hallmark movie, and I loved the backdrop, and the parts that took place during the holidays, but those could not save it from just being a bore. It goes by so slowly that I ended up having to fast forward through some chapters. I didn’t even like the main character very much and not because she has an affair with a married man, but she’s just boring. The most interesting character in the book is her dog, Salty. There are times when the narrator starts to whisper some of the parts too, I guess to emphasize emotion? All it did was force me to move from my comfy position while laying in bed to turn it up. I got this during a half price sale through Audible, and I wouldn’t bother even at that price again.
