What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I think the story had a great premise and could have been better if the author had extended the story more and also had more interaction and situations of the various key characters. When the book was done, I did not really have a feeling for the various characters nor the direction the story took at the end. I also think another person reading the book may have improved things. Often the reading was monotone even during time where you would think vocal inflection would have been important. There were also some audio editing needing to be done as volumes and some background noise during the quite time could be heard.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I thought it was good, however there was not much time to lead up to it nor areas of the book where you could point back and say, “Yeah, I should have seen this coming” moments.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kevin Gallagher and B.B. Gallagher ?
Hard to say. I think of the audio books I have listened to thus far, this from a narrator has been the worst so far. It took away from the suspense portions of the book at times.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ark-13: An Odyssey?
None, I would actually say that the book needed more scenes to built the characters, environment, etc. I thought it felt flat or cardboard, more body would have helped.
