I have mixed feelings about litRPG in general and this book encapsulates my mixed feelings entirely. The premise was really interesting and the first few chapters really hooked me. The stats and the “system” talk took me out of the story more than I liked. The last third or so of the book I just wanted to shake the authors and yell “show don’t tell! Good writing shows and all you’re doing is self narrating at me!” I really didn’t need a feelings summary from the main character three times every chapter. I will not be buying the second book.
