I can’t tell why this is popular. There are parts that I think are meant to be funny, but I didn’t laugh at all. It’s not that I was offended or anything, it’s just that while the general tone seemed to indicate a comedy, I couldn’t find any actual jokes. There’s also the fact that every female character is described incredibly sexually, but since the main character is a box with no kind of sex drive I don’t have a clue why. I don’t know if I’m meant to be aroused, but I’m not. I didn’t get attached to any of the characters, there wasn’t any element of cozy charm, no page-turning plot. I can’t find any reason to hate this book, but I also really can’t find anything to like about it either. I read about 3/4 of it before giving up, so I guess maybe something improves at the end, or later in the series.
TL;DR this book doesn’t do anything that really annoys me, but it also doesn’t interest or entertain me… at all.
