✨ I purchased the audiobook myself as I’m finding immersion reading (with gifted eARC from the publisher) reading greatly helps my current brain.

🎧 Narrators: Travis Baldree and Jeff Hays

Baldree does the bulk of the narration. Baldree has excellent range and elocution, which works quite well to make it distinctly clear which character is speaking. Baldree does well matching his conversational tone to Dinniman’s writing style. His comedic timing is excellent, as is his ability to ever so slightly alter each voice to exemplify natural emotional shifts, particularly between horror and humor. His narration style works particularly well for the sarcastic dialogue, chaotic battle scenes, and dry humor.

Hays has a much smaller role and executes it well. He has a more dramatic style that works well.

The production is polished and high quality. Clear character voices with dynamic emotional range and energetic pacing. The book being in first person POV and written (and narrated) in a conversational tone serves well to make it feel like you’re listening to a friend tell you a story, or a wild dream they had. Combat scenes feel cinematic thanks to Baldree’s narration.
