Where is this going?

Book 1: A fantasy lit rpg. The one common theme throughout the book seems to be darkness. It is an interesting world but the writing is not the best. There’s some really weird stuff in here. It’s like the book wasn’t properly written/proofread. Things like the main character saying he almost laughed, then proceeding to laugh. Or a level 5 fighting a level 20 and saying it’s almost 3 times it’s level? Like wtf? There’s various of these just weird things in the writing. One or two is like OK, but there’s too many. The end was by far the most interesting part. But there’s also just no sense or where this story is really going.
