The story was okay, it felt more like a YA sci-fi with sex thrown in to be more “adult”. The writer has a whole blurb at the end where she says she didn’t flesh out her “magic” system, just figured it out as she went and bragged she doesn’t care about giving TW for her badly written rough sex. More importantly though, the writer spends several minutes talking about how she spent a long time with several iterations get her generative ai to create the cover. She calls herself the “graphic artist” despite using a machine generate the art. It’s not even that difficult of a design, but she’s proud of it. “I’m not stealing anyone’s jobs by using ai because I’m the ‘graphic artist’!” 🤣 Yeah and I’m a doctor because I Google my symptoms! Generative ai uses real, stolen art to train their ai and it’s terrible for the environment. It encourages ai companies to establish more data centers which use lots of water and requires computer elements that are usually acquired through unethical mining practices. This author brags about using ai despite profiting off her book sales and allegedly being a “New York best selling author”. Yet, she didn’t want to pay an artist to design her cover or spend (probably less time) drawing it herself. I listen to a lot of crappy ya & adult books to pass the time, but I’m definitely skipping the one who brags about using generative ai. I mean, who even knows how much she wrote in her book either. She probably spent a million hours editing ai prompts and just slapped her “author” title on.
