He tends to get stuck and just makes his characters do stupid things to continue the story. At which point, you have to pretend you don’t know its happening. Or suspend your own reality. Especially, in the very long battles. Where so much is going on even the writer gets lost.
Sometimes it is like a bad TV show. For example, SVU. Where they tend to be far more focused on pushing their ridiculous plot instead of consistency.
Beyond that it is good. This was written pretty early in his career. I am sure it will get better.
