I liked the story line enough to put up with the drama princess…but she didn’t get smarter and grow up. A story full of the most annoying cliches – I don’t like writing bad reviews…but I literally yelled at the princess twice and skipped over her pity monologue a few times as well. I can’t..
I hated that I am a couple hours into this and her husband has probably been killed and the aloof stranger. She is now marooned with tell her he loves her.
Personally I love the premise of a group of stranded people. I love reading about how they decide things, seeing the characters personaliies emerge and shift in stressful circumstances, and the choices they make to survive. Adventure, base-building, group dynamics stuff. This book though? So far it could all have taken place in a school..
I enjoy epic fantasy with a complex world every so often. I found this one too complicated to follow in audiobook format and fully understand as the story unfolded. The premise of the book was splendidly adventurous, and the author puts apparently extensive research into the life of Cleopatra to excellent use. There are playful nods to the cultures present in each setting, so most of them come across as very real. The characters are very established in their roles, so first impressions remain..
pick a different title! This is someone’s poor attempt at writing weak porn. And… it’s a series! No thanks.
