The story could have been told in half the time. Was bogged down too much in trivial details and conversations.

Steve Hendrickson narrates these series of Sherlock & Watson stories and nails the voice, accent, inflection, and attitude of Sherlock. I love it so much that I am looking for other books narrated by Hendrickson no matter what the genre or topic.

Interesting take on Holmes and Watson and their adventures. Binge listened it! Great voice who brought the characters to life!

I wanted this story to be as deep as the British voice reading it, as many twists in the plot as my eyerolls, as much mystery as I had wondering why it was published in the first place… Nothing happens here, friends. sounds like Sherlock, feels like Holmes, isn’t either. Take your lust to Agatha..
I WANTED this to be the second book that saved the first from mediocre, watered down Sherlock. That’s not the worst part, the worst is that there is no mystery, no trail of clues, no twists. There was no mystery at all… Anyone could see it was the man with the grudge. NO other suspects..
I had a hard time following the characters in this story. I also enjoy the dialogue between Holmes and Watson, so I was disappointed that Watson wasn’t involved in the story until later.
My only criticism would be that it’s confusing at times, keeping track of the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!!
After a second novel by Larry Millet I am most impressed by his ability to so successfully mimic the voice of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and through it those of Holmes and Watson. Add good suspenseful tales and I really do feel like I’ve discovered lost treasure

Since this story hits close to home, I thoroughly enjoyed it.There is a historical marker on Interstate 35 as you approach Hinkley from the south. It mentions the Historic Hinkley Fire. I often drive by this sign.In addition, I live in a town that was once James J. Hills farm. Many buildings still exist.
This was a great story, narrated beautifully. Highly recommended. Excellent for Sherlock Holmes fans or just for enjoyment.
