The story was was great narrator ruined it. He was flat and robotic with no emotional inflection.
Great story terrible narrator

A large part of the struggle was the performance. It sounded like I was listening to some junior high schooler. Beyond that, as others have noted, certainly not in the top of it’s genre and not even on par with some of the author’s other works. One and done for me.
The Story was great and I really enjoyed it. Misaki was frustrating for the first half of the story and I grew to love some of these characters only to have my heart ripped out. And I could’ve lives without all of the time words that were in Japanese, it seemed excessive to be honest…
The premise of the book is amazing. However, the pacing was not always consistent and there were moments in the book that felt stagnant. I am rather confused if this is a stand alone novel because I have so many questions!
there’s a lot of excess detail that doesn’t affect the story in a meaningful way. character development is excruciating. The narrator also did not brush up on Japanese pronunciation so a good portion is spoken incorrectly.
There was no ending!! This book should have been chapter one. It was difficult to finish. I wish I could have given it a Zero rating.
The entire thing is farcical. I cannot believe the scenarios in this thing are plausible as written. It also writes a Navy seal to be emotionally weak and indecisive, if not just dense. Just poor.
