I cannot recommend this book enough. The emotion and heartbreak in the story is so palpable. I have so many emotions about this book and thought I knew where it was going, halfway through, that changed and I cannot be more pleased it’s not perfect and there is some weird pacing but I know that..
the story is great, but for so much Japanese influence and Japanese words used, they should have had someone familiar with Japanese read it.

Wang is an artist of the finest degree whose stories cut like a blade and keeps you coming back for more.
I am not normally into this kind of book but it was incredible, I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
and I mean WEPT. This book is straight up dangerous if you are a woman, married 15 years and have a 12-14 year old son. I’m not sure if this WAS therapy or will send me to therapy.
