Not recommended. This is the first I’ve read from this author. I’ll sample another, but very disappointed.
Very poor dialogue, both internal and external conversations.

This book feels like it is for a target audience that isn’t me. The character development felt linear and bland. The characters feel bland until a point where they jump to tons of character and emotional development but it feels rushed and disingenuous. The writing for the fight scenes are brilliant. The beginning is bland..
The character development, world building, pacing, and pros are all very enjoyable. Royal Road really produced some stars, this is as good as “Mother of All Learning”
Too slow for me…. Details upon details about the road, landscape, packing a vehicle, holstering a gun… but almost no action. I wanted to stick around but I just can’t. Need more action for me, life is too short.

This book not only kept me wanting to read more but it also had me emotionally invested for every main character. Loved this read and would hope ML Wang finds the inspiration to continue this stand alone into a series.
Once again TG Brown delivers! Warren continues to stick to his values in the pursuit of Justice. The main character has become more interesting and complex. The tragic crime at the center of the story grabbed me right away. The backdrop of chaos during a regional catastrophe added to the urgency and kept the story..
I really liked this novel, and especially the soul of the story. I get that the narrators voicing of characters may frustrate some, as it does seem a bit cartoonish at times. But I wouldn’t let that overshadow a really great story that takes you on an unexpected journey all round. Loose ends galore but..
beautifully written. great world building into characters that actually make you care about them. somber chaotic prideful painful
Took a bit to warm up, got really really good and then… I struggled to finish it after the midpoint climax. Will be a home run for some, just wasn’t for me.
Might get crucified for this but as someone who can speak Japanese, it’s kind of cringe how much the narration takes away from the quality of the story. The writing is GREAT, I really enjoyed the overall story. I wish I read this book instead of listening. The narrator did a good job with voices..
